'Santo António da Serra', or just 'Santo da Serra' is a small village belonging to the district of Machico, renowned for its romatic and bucolic atmosphere.
The quite country village is only a few minutes walk from Quinta das Colmeias and here you will find a small supermarket as well as bars and restaurants for all your sundry needs, the local church is situated in the centre of the Village, as you head out of the small village is the Pharmacy open daily.
One of the main attractions at santo da Serra is the 'Quinta da Junta' with its park laid out in the beginning of the 19th century where you will find a small zoo as well as a tennis court and a mini golf course. Well worth a visit to see the magnolia lined paths as well as the lookout point overlooking the valley of Machico.
The local Cider festival takes place in the first weekend of September, the main industry for the area is agriculture and the farmers market at the weekends is very popular with plenty of local flavour.
